Help with Sliding Lock Mechanism - need design ideas for linear motion lock function 1

Hello,
I am working on a lock mechanism and I need help to figure out how to make the function work.
As you can see in the image there are (2) parts in red that need to be secured in place.
The magenta bolt will be the trigger that pulls everything together by turning clockwise.
The objects in blue can be made out of casting, extruding or milling. Preferably made from aluminum alloy.
I need to find a way to be able to make this function work with the bolt being the part that brings everything together.
Any ideas and insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

The Scroll Mechanism is a great idea and looks really neat. I would assume these would need to be milled or cast parts. I am going to look into the feasibility of using this method.

I have certainly thought about tapering the parts which would allow me to extrude them and would be good for high production volume vs price. I have not been able to come up with a tapered design that is functional. If you could provide a rough sketch or example it would really help.

I am trying to design these parts in solidworks.

The "base" of the scroll is made by creating a circle with a spiral.
I made the spiral have a 10mm pitch and 6.5 rotations.

Now when I am designing the parts that mate to it "chuck clamps" I'm not sure how to create the thread cuts into the parts.
Can you offer any suggestions on how to sketch the mating track?

No, sorry I can't help with that. Try one of the CAD forums on this site, there are several.
What I can suggest, however, is to ensure that the radius of the jaw teeth is slightly smaller than the radius of the scroll's thread. This well help centralize the load over the individual jaw teeth and help minimise edge-loading.
If you need to look at an example, try purchasing a '3 jaw self-centering' chuck. You can find Chinese made ones for as little as $30 on eBay.
 
How do you get the two clamps to translate radially and the base to translate axially by simply turning the single center bolt? What does the bolt react against?

It also appears that the clamps need to contact the parts at two surfaces when engaged. This would seem to require some method of synchronizing the radial and axial motions of the clamps.

Maybe you could provide more details of the function this mechanism must perform.
