Has the encoder been replaced recently? If so was it replaced with the correct ppr? Or could be broken wire on the encoder and missing pulses. I have seen the feeders slip on material many times. The only way to tell is to hand tach the feeder roll then tach the material. Additionally you must look at the plc program to determine what triggers the shear to fire and then troubleshoot from there. Did a roll get replaced and now different diameter which is causing a calculation to be off?

Does the length vary stochastically? Or is there a constant deviation from set length?

How is the pay-off brake working? Have had problems there. Brake not working correctly can cause elongation and also slippage (when you do not look).

What do the encoder signals look like? Baseline? Amplitude? Glitches? Missing pulses? Uneven width? (often a sign that there's dust or dirt in the encoder). Also, check the encoder coupling. Slippage there is a main cause for problems in these applications.

Thanks Skogsgurra, length is not consistence varies +/- 0.200.
These is new project no brake, forming round rod to triangle shape, so there is a lot of pressure on the stock .
Encoder and plc is new,
thank you for your help
