We have NVIDIA QuadroFX 500 GPU video cards on Win2000 workstations and NVIDIA's website shows a SolidWorks "Partner Certified" driver generically for all Quadro's as verion 43.51.

This driver does NOT work with the QuadroFX 500 GPU and SolidWorks 2004. Even though it does not appear that you should use the latest driver THAT is the only one that works! Version 52.14 works great.

Might save someone some hair pulling. :O)

I have that version and my Quadro 500 FX rocks. I hardly have any problems with mine. I'll stay with 43.51, because I'm actually having less trouble with this driver than others are.

One other note for you - You might try putting all these posts into an FAQ for everyone to read and to also have a easier way of finding this information. It gets hard once you put more posts on this forum to find just one subject. Especially if you forget the subject line... not that, that has happened to me before [wink]. Yes there are other ways of searching for a post but it's easier to find and point people to an FAQ then an old post.

Actually I was using SW2004 SP1.0 with my QuadroFX 500 and it worked fine. Then I.S. installed an accounting client on my PC and everything worked until I loaded a part into SW. Then I'd get colored boxes everywhere, the part wouldn't spin, then the mouse would freeze and my workstation would lock up tight as heck... all within 20 seconds of loading the part. Then uninstalled the client and uninstalled and re-installed everything (several times) and nothing changed it until I installed the new driver 52.14. That's when NVIDIA came back saying 43.51 won't work with the 500.

Okay, I'll check into FAQ's but having been in this site for about 3 days it's still kinda new :O)

Did you go back into your driver options (control panel - display - etc.) and reselect for SolidWorks? Maybe the other application reset the driver options for itself. We have seen this happen in the past. As far as I know SW does not go in and do this for itself when you install.

Back in SW2001/2002 days we had Fire GL's. All our SolidWorks systems are standardized and built in house. But certain systems had trails of ghost images in SW whenever you moved the cursor or dragged anything. Took a while to figure out but our hair grew back eventually.

Be naughty - save Santa a trip.
