Hi all, I am looking for ways to do blank plate plan development for segmented hemispherical head for pressure vessels. I have tried searching for such info, but not able to get this from search engine. Would be appreciated if someone here can share with me useful reference or guidelines for this Even relevant website link or simple write-up will also be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I don't think it can be predicted with simple maths as plastic deformation occurs during the forming process.
Perhaps an Elastic Plastic Analysis will provide an approximate solution.
To get it really accurate, you need to conduct trial and error formings at a workshop.

Dear DriveMeNuts,
Thanks for your comment. Before this I thought that this can be done by direct calculations and profile projection. I will look into Elastic Plastic Analysis direction for this.

Have a look at these. Because of the difficult material, they had to be plastically crunched in a Detroit car panel press.
