Hi everyone,
I am wondering if I can implement the damping ratio ξ of the material in the module of material properties (as we can specify damping when defining material).
because when I try to define the damping as material properties, Abaqus requires to specify Alpha and Bita coefficient (Rayleigh damping) as shown in the photo, but I dont know the values of Alpha and Bita, I know only the damping ratio ξ.
any suggestion?? I will be so grateful for any help.

Check the article "How to Compute the Coefficients for Rayleigh Damping?" on Simscale’s website. It may help you calculate the necessary inputs.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, but I have a conceptual question,

dose modelling the plastic behavior of the material replace modelling the damping itself (such as Rayleigh damping or structural damping)?

As it is known that the material model itself may provide damping in the form of plastic dissipation or viscoelasticity

This is discussed in the Abaqus documentation chapter "Material damping" (paragraph "Rayleigh damping"). Rayleigh damping is meant primarily for linear analyses, without plasticity or viscoelasticity.
