One of our supplier told us A672 Grade B60 Cl.12 pipe is not suitable for HIC testing. What is the reason for that?
Is there any code or standard which shows Grade B60 materials is not suitable for HIS testing?

Thank you. Our supplier says A515 Grade B 60 is a coarse grain material and HIC test is not suitable for that. They offer to use Grade C60 (A516-C60) plate material > fine grain to be able to perform HIC testing. Now I am looking for an evidence to prove this technical info.

I have seen SA 515 Grade 60 and even Grade 70 normalized plate, HIC tested. I would check with other suppliers.

Lack of Niobium or Vanadium cause a HIC test failure in steel ? The argument was Nb & V retards the diffusion of Hydrogen and as a result reduce Hydrogen ingress and cracking.
