Note an arrangement can be used to control both the content and position of components in a sub-assembly

I'd like one part to be visible in one assembly, but not in the other. How can I do this?

Same as in ref sets, use it in one arrangement and leave it out of the other.

Best regards,

But how?
I kind of already figured that out, I just don't know how to do it. I can't find an option that lets me choose what parts in an assembly I want to (not) include in my arrangement.

You 'suppress' the Components on an Arrangement by Arrangement basis.

Just select the component(s) which you wish to remove from an Arrangement, press MB3, select the 'Suppression...' option, when the dialog comes up, select the Arrangement which you wish to remove these Component(s) from, then in the 'State' section of the dialog, you select 'Always Suppressed'. Now hit OK and you're set. If you now change Arrangements you will see these Component(s) disappear.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for.

so what about the mates/constraints when you suppress parts in arrangements?the corresponding mates/constraints are not suppressed right?

If you have 2 or more arrangements in your file, right click on a constraint and you will have the option of making it arrangement specific (only used for that arrangement) or, for value based constraints (distance, angle), use different values based on the arrangement in use.

Technically they are NOT suppressed or deleted, however they are rendered 'inoperable' and their normal icon, as seen in the Assembly Navigator (and starting in NX 8.0, in the Constraint Navigator as well) will be replaced by the 'Warning' icon and if you have the 'Info'/'Status' column enabled it will indicate there that the Component associated with that Constraint has been 'Suppressed or Deleted'. However, there is no problem leaving those constraints in that state as long as you wish since as soon as you switch to an Arrangement in which the Component(s) is NOT suppressed, the corresponding constraints will be made operative again with the user needing to do anything.
