Dear all,

I am trying to figure out market prices for high purity n-Butane prices as a part of potential forward integration of my company. We are studying oportunities of selling high purity n-Butane as aerosol propellant to the cosmetics industry.

Does anybody know current price levels or where to find current high purity n-Butane price levels? And does anybody by any chance know what the biggest players in the American market are?

Any hint will be greatly appreciated.

define high purity and what you don't want in it.

The GPA has a set of purity standards for commerical grades. If you want specialized nButane, there is no real market.

The market for commercial nButane is listed daily by OPIS. OPIS ia a service that you have to pay for the daily trading data.

Here is a place that shows the 3 commercial grades of nButane. They reference OPIS too.

the biggest players are ONEOK, Williams, and Enterprise.

Have you got any info on the specs of C, D and ISOM grade?
I am interrested in the application of high purity grade n-butane as aerosol propellant and am uncertain what the purity requirements are.

the grades are still a little different is places around the world, but generally here are the two major grades specifications.

The difference is that when making iso butane from normal butane, olefins ruin the catalyst as does the Sulphurs. Then running iso butane through the isomer plant, it breaks into propanes and lighter making yields low, so those contaminates are limited more.
