Hello All,

Would anyone be able to point me to some high quality info in regard to high-speed, high-power output, small displacement diesels? Diesels used for racing, as in Europe, would be an example of what I'm interested in. Total displacement in the neighborhood of 1.8L is preferred. I'd like to find displacement, number of cylinders, rated speed, and rated power for a variety of engines of the type(s) described above. I'd prefer english-language websites, but I can struggle through other languages if needed.

Regards,
Isaac

Isaac: I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but
the VW Vortex site at:

has some enthusiast type information. The VW TDI forums
there have lots of traffic where you may find some more
technical links. The "full story" link in the TDI section
at the bottom of the opening page has some of VW's latest
diesel technology. VW has clearly been doing a lot of
diesel research lately.

This site also has some good technical information from
time to time:

>>> just while we are on the diesel subject, are the internals in a diesel engine lots stronger than the petrol types? Are any of those components diesel specific ie.not swappable.

There are some guys who tend cross parts with diesels ie.cranks and claim its stronger, just need some confirmation here. Thks all.

I'm looking for sites such as the following:

I'm not interested in the Dakar Rally in particular, so I would appreciate suggestions as to other race series that include diesel vehicles (and links to vehicle/engine descriptions, if possible).

What about truck racers. They must have a club and some website somewhere.

Surely some of their knowlege would be usefull to you
