Hi everybody!

We are about to fabricate a "LEAD POT REACTOR" and we are looking for a material (sheet metal) that can withstand the processing conditions. The POT has to melt and mix a 90 Tons
LEAD at 1000 deg C.

Your inputs are all welcome... Tnx.

This reactor sounds very dangerous. What type of reactor are you designing - pressure and process? Lead melts at about 625 deg F (327 deg C) at atmospheric pressure, so you are talking about a superheated metal.

Can you provide more information?

The POT is open to atmospheric pressure with attached stirring paddle used in mixing molten lead to attain reaction that can remove impurities such as Sn, Sb, Cu, etc... The Pot is placed over a gas fired burner that can heat the system up to 1000 deg C.

Open atmosphere lead melting? Temperature 1000C,Have you given thought to the lead fumes. Is there no other method of separation? I had once tried separating Ti from Lead,. But I had to give up due to environment reasons.

You had better be extremely careful with Lead at 1000°C as most metals have some solubility in Pb at this temperature.
It is possible to run a Pb bath at this temperatures and higher but as stated requires extreme care and due diligence on one's part.
