Hello guys, I´m back again after some years of hard studying!!!
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I´ve got a supplier building a skid which will have several lugs welded onto it for hoisting manoeuvres at site.
What type of testing should be carried upon the lug material, and on the lug-skid weld during Factory Acceptance Testing? Are there any codes or standards that tell us how to design said lugs and how to inspect the final product? Testing should be done under extreme conditions (i.e. low temperature).
I´m sorry if I´m not using the correct wording. In Spanish we call these hoisting holes ¨orejas de izaje¨, closest word I could find is a hoisting lug.
Many thanks for any answer, and I guess I´ll be coming back several times more!
Cheers,
Nico
