I have a 2” square hollow section that will have two 16Dia round bars (& thus holes) though the x axis (view from end). My question is regarding the usual notation used when labelling these holes. Usually when labelling holes in flat plate I write ‘ 2-Dia17Holes’. However, when labelling hollow section, do you write ‘2-Dia17Holes’ or ‘4-Dia17Holes’ (as there are actually 4holes), or do you add ‘2-Dia17 Thru holes’? Must appreciate it if anyone can tell me the normal convention used.

I would say "2-Dia17Holes Through Both Sides" or "2-Dia17ThroughHoles" or "(2) 17mm Dia Holes Through Both Sides" or "17mm Dia Through Holes Through Both Sides in 2 Locations" Etc.

If you have 2 holes at 17 dia ... use "2X (DIA SYMBOL)17 THRU (or depth symbol with dim)".
