One click on the icon and this message appears,

Solidworks needs a folder to store user data for hole wizard. Since the default “data” folder does not have read-write privileges, please select a folder that does.

Any ideas?

Check the attributers of that folder in windows. See if it is Read-Only.

It could also be that the folder name is actually a file name. Or the Admin has not given you enough privs to that folders.

When you ok the message, a ‘browse for folder box appears the ‘data file is highlighted.

It’s property attributes are not read only

Have you contacted your VAR? I would and have them contact SW unless they have already seen this type of problem. I know I haven't. Please post it here if you find an answer through your VAR.

I'm trying to get my company to upgrade to 05 but with no luck as yet, so i can make use of service packs and help/support.

If you have access to support then call your VAR support and have them call SW about this. Can't uninstall SW04 and can't reinstall SW04 etc...
