Hospital and Lab Energy cost / square foot 1

Can anyone share annual square foot costs for Lab or Hospital buildings with me? The latest national survey for energy costs in Hospitals and Labs seems to be 5 years old. Obviously, things have changed.

My advise would be to call different hospitals/labs and ask them for how much they spend on electricity. they should have a break down per department or per block or something and you will be able to compile these information together to arrive to a quantitative conclusion.

If you are in the business of energy for hospitals, I would recommend entering your facitlites data into Energy Star, then seing how you rank as per percentile. The ASHE web site has some data by region, but again that is against the 2003 data. If you enter a profile under Energy Star for the available categories (limited) then look against the ASHE data, you can get a good understanding by region. Just going by general category of "hospital" does not not mean much, it would need to be further refined by type of care, number of beds, region, etc. If you have 15 MRI's/CT's running 8 hr/day, then your electric bill will look ugly compared to mental health care.
