Have a scenario, where I had to weld a 2" piping connection (through HOT TAP) on to an 24" A234-W elbow, oriented in skewed direction, i.e., elbow rotated in 2 plane.
would like to explore the feasibility of executing hot tap of 2" connection anywhere in the surface of the elbow or is there a limitation on the location / orientation of the Hot tap on an A234 fitting.

This isn't really a Safety relief valve question but should be in the pipelines and piping forum...

My issue / thought is more around the fitting you're welding on.

Most "elbowlets" are intended to be welded in line with the plane of the elbow and are contoured that way. So whilst you could rotate the location around the circumference at least a small amount, you can't "twist" the elbolet on its axis as the re-inforcement will be wrong.

I would suggest an FEA of this strange orientation as well.
