After greeting

i have a design problem belong to the volume of hot water to be supply for military dining facility .

I use the ASHRAE application hand book table 9 hot water demands per fixture for various building to design the hot water volume for other building .

But this table does not include dining facility or restaurant. What is the other code demonstrate this hot water volume belong to dining facility

With thanks

It depends on what type of dining facility it is.

If it is full service with full meals, I would suggest 2.4 gal/meals/day of operation.

If it is a sandwich/luncheonette, I would suggest 0.7 gal/meals/day of operation.

This is from The Unified Facilities Criteria which is used for USACE projects.

Actually the facility provides three meals.

The hot water domain divided between the hand wash area for the troops and the kitchen service.

That data you provide deals with gal/meals/day, is there a deferent data deals with fixtures. Like the sink and hand wash basin per gallon for dining facility?

A dining facility would be considered a dump type load. You would have heavy use for the 2-3 hours surrounding each meal.

To size for the handwash areas, you would size using the Table 9 you referenced. I would probably use 4-6 gal/hr for each handwash fixture. Depending on the type of faucet you use (0.5 gpm - 2.0 gpm) that equates to 3-12 uses per hour per fixture. You might want to use the higher values since the fixtures would get used quite a bit.

Or you could add about 10% to your dining facility use and that would cover any additional fixtures.

Thank you very much for your response.
I shall use this quantity, hoping the VIAP consulting side gave an approved determination for the calculation.
