Greetings members of Eng-tips forum.
I would like your help for the following:

I need to set Expansion Joint for sales department; Pipes are HDPE, SS and FRP from 3" up to 24" pipes diameter.
I actually have an idea to how to calculate pipe's axial displacement, but I don't know if is useful to set max displacement of Expansion Joint and I don't know either how to calculate Expansion Joint's lateral max displacement.
I'm thinking in single or double arc, elastomeric Expansion Joint.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry but I forgot to mention that displacement due thermal expansion

Imposed movement on an expansion joint would normally come from stress calculation software or another calculation method to define the it. This does not mean the movement can be tolerated by the EXJ in any direction.

You have to check with the EXJ manufacturer regarding what sort of movment can be allowed in any direction. You should also consider frequency of movements.
