I am creating a tabulated drawing of o-rings. I want to show each of them (created by design table and managed by configurations" in a list on the drawing. Is there a way to make the BOM serve as the list and update automatically?
basically show all configurations with Configuration specific properties list in the BOM

Hi Paul

One way of doing it, is by creating annotations linked to each property you want to show, and organize these annotations in a tabulated form.

These annotations will update if you change your model (configuration).

The bigest drawback of this system is that you need to add a line on the table when you add a new configuration.

My wish is to show all of the model configurations and all of the properties associated to each of those model configurations.

You can insert a Design Table into a drawing. Basically you need to manipulate the DT by adding headers, hiding rows and columns, and adding borders. Check the Help files for details.

I really only want the properties for each of the instance to show in a drawing. Description, material, and stuff. I want the part model in it's correct size to use in Assemblies. I reallt do not want to see the design table in the drawing.

???? What's the difference between showing a BOM with the correct information and showing a DT with the correct information?

Although a BOM could probably be manipulated to show what you want, that would be misusing the BOM. It was never intended to be used for that function.

One of the intended uses of a DT is is for the function you describe.

I guess the DT could be shown and manipulated to look like the BOM table. I am not as familiar with doing that. I was looking to use the properties and the links to the properties to create a tabulated drawing and use the DT to create the models to be used in the assembly.

I may well be missing something, but if the drawing you intend to use for placing the tabulated information on is a part drawing, then why are you even considering using a BOM?

A BOM (Parts List) is meant to be used in an assy drawing to list all the parts used.

Check the Help file index for design tables, in drawings and follow the Related Topics links. There is an example in one of them.
