How do California structural PE's refer to themselves on company resumes/RFP's?

Can you use the term "structural" but not "structural engineer" in your title on company resumes?

Would it be Mr. Boiler106, PE (structural)?

If you aren't an actual California Structural Engineer with an S.E. I'd avoid that terminology. Most of the structural folks in California have a Civil stamp. Or at least that's my understanding that the Civil stamp is a prerequisite for the structural engineer credential.

yes, i understand that portion. My question is for California PE's that practice structural discipline-type work, how do you list yourself on company resumes.

For those not aware, califormia PE's can design structures except schools and hospitals.

This is in contrast to Illinois, where ONLY an SE can design structures.

Some states plainly say that you can't use the term Structural Engineer to advertise yourself unless you have the license. Some states also require that you identify which state you hold your license in when advertising yourself. The board regulations usually cover this pretty clearly.

California also has a practice act, or effectively has one with the separate licensure. You would not claim to have a credential you do not possess.

I get the feeling you're inventing a title/credential that doesn't exist. You're either a California S.E. or you are Civil Professional Engineer. There's no such thing as a "Structural P.E." in California.

Never seen "PE (Structural)" used in CA, just PE. I'd imagine it would be clear from the context of the resume / document that you provide structural engineering services. If not, I'd work on making that clear without using the title of Structural Engineer as that is reserved for licensed SE's in CA. I believe Lex fully answered your question, so I don't know why you gave such a rude response.

A PE designation is all you have in California, full stop. PE Structural does not exist, and may land you in legal issue where some may consider that you are promoting yourself as something you are not (you are not an SE). I am not licensed in Cali, but I am licensed in Oregon and Washington, which have near identical provisions. I state that I am a civil PE with a focus on structural engineering (if in a document like a resume where you can explain). If this is a title, you are a PE in civil engineering, that's the title that you possess. Anything more is beyond the bounds of your title, unless you sit for and pass the SE exam, and meet the qualification for an SE licensure.

What scenario are you envisioning where someone ends up viewing your resume without understanding what they're looking for? As I mentioned before, it should be clear from your resume that you provide structural engineering services.
