I am not CATIA savvy, but I need to get some dimensions on a drawing.
I placed the views using insert, dimensioning, dimensions and when I scale the view I cannot get the arrows to scale.
I have tried everything and just don't know how to do it...
Any help will be appreciated.

BamaDevO-

I have run into this issue before.
is this v4 or v5???

Nobody has helped me.
I am on V5.
I still do not have any idea how to do this.

If someone could help me I would appreciate it!

O.K. If it is on V4 how do you do it?
Maybe it is similar...

Thanks!

Bamadev....

The default arrowhead size is about 1/8 inch long. Regardless of the view scale, arrowheads are always the same length. If your drawing view scale is appropriate to the size of your part, the dimensions should appear OK.

If your company requires a different arrowhead, the system administrator can change the appearance of arrowheads by working with the CATSettings. In V5R11t, this is easily done with the TOOLS+OPTIONS.

Can you provide a little more description about your problem? Are the arrowheads too smale/large? How do they look when you print the drawing? What size is the dimension text? What is the size (length) of your part, and what view scale are you using?

The arrow size is too small.
When I create a drawing, I place views and start to dimension.
Well, the views are too small for the A-size sheet of paper so I change the scale. When I do this the arrow size and dimension stay the same size.
I can change the dimension by changing the font, but the arrows are staying very small.

When you scale a view by 10 you cannot even see the arrows.

Thanks in advance.

Bama....

It works OK for me, so I don't know why it doesn't for you. I'm using V5,R11,SP4

I just made a new drawing (ANSI std, A size) with a new front view at scale of 1.0. I drew a small rectangle, 1/2 x 1/4 inch. I changed the view scale to 10. I zoomed the screen to make the rectangle approx 5" x 2.5" on the screen. I then added two dimensions and the arrowheads were fine - about 1/8" in length. I also printed the drawing, and the arrowheads are the same as on the screen.

maybe someone else has a fix for you, ....Jack

Bama....

Do other users have the same problem?

Again, your system administrator can change the appearance of arrowheads by working with the CATSettings. In V5R11 this is easily done with TOOLS+OPTIONS+DRAFTING.

hi,

The size of the arrow is not like with the scale of the view. It is define in the standard XML file.

have a look in the online doc...search for standard parameters drafting xml

Bama,

In Catia V4 go to TEXTD2.

In the onscreen Parameters box click on GRAPH.

Check that the SCALE box is set to FREE.

This ensures that dimensioning graphics are not scaled with the view.
