I need to create some .stl files, but don't see the file extension under save. Do I need a special license?

Thanks

For Parts, it should be under SAVE AS. Without the STL license, you have little or no control over the discretization, but it should work under a standard MD2 based license.

you can buy STL lic. that will help.

But without the lic. you still should be able to save a CATPart as a STL file. For a CATProduct, you should use the Tool in Assembly Design to turn your CATProduct into a CATPart.

To refine the STL you definitly need the STL lic.
