Its a Bodine NSH-54RL, 115VDC, four wire. The wiring diagram has two wires going to the "armature circuit" and the other two going to the "field circuit".

I attached two files, I see one and it does not open here for me. If need be, I'll try again.

The doc opens using MS doc imaging, since its a tif.

Motor appears to be a reversible type, with separate supplies required for the field and armature. No specs means no idea of what voltages or currents are involved. Polarity of field is likely, but certain, achieved with neg connected to white. If so, and red / black of armature connected + / -, should allow turns in direction called out on drawing.

With so little info, best be careful when testing. Bump test recommended. Megger both field and armature prior to excitation.

Is there nameplate info?

Step one, is this a series motor or a shunt motor. (probably shunt).
Measure the resistance of the field. If the resistance is such as to allow connection to rated voltage, the motor is a shunt or compound motor. Connect the field and the armature in parallel.
If the field resistance is close to a dead short, the motor is is either a series motor or burned out.
The field and armature circuits are connected in series in a series motor.

728 ohms Is this a shunt / compound motor?

Shunt

If it was a compound motor, reversing with mere exchange of polarity of DC feed to armature leads (called out on the wiring diagram) would be unacceptable, since there would be a highly preferred direction of rotation, efficiency wise.
