I have several tasks that cannot be started unless it can be finished in the same day. I want to link the task, but when I do it wants to split the task over two days. How can I acomplish this?

I can not think of a way to do this, without forcing the first task to start on a certain day/time and making sure that the total time for all tasks will fit within the working hours that day. Of course, you would have to manually check that the tasks were still scheduled for the proper day if they are linked to other tasks, and those tasks move.

I don't think I fully understand the question. Why wouldn't the following work:
- Set the task to a duration of 1 day
- Set the task to fixed duration
- link-away

Perhaps we need more information in the question?

Basically I am trying to set up a schedule for a resource like a CNC, but I want to update the actual times so that the tasks roll up/down so that the operator is maximizing his time.

Right now when I have a task that takes 6 hours, Project will split the time if it cannot be completed in the same work day. I want it to delay the task until it can be started and completed in the same day.

I am starting to believe this may not be possible.
