How do Sectionalizers work OR what do they do. 1

If you could, give an example setup of how they were used.

They are devices that open up after a set number of reclosing operations from a circuit breaker or a recloser. They don't have any interrupting capability.

As an example, suppose you have a permanent fault on an overhead line. If a recloser is programmed for 4 interrupting operations, the sectionalizer is usually set for 1 less operation. After the third operation of the recloser, the sectionalizer drops open. This permits the recloser to close and just isolates the section of the circuit beyond the sectionalizer.

Also, how do they close the sectionalizers? manually ?

The sectionalizer is closed similarly to the way you close a fused cutout.
