Change the font to 'Latin Extended Font' and use ALT+8804 (less than or equal to) or ALT+8805 (greater than or equal to)

Just put a dollar sign in front of it. For example, $< or $>. By the way, if you ever need to insert a dollar sign it is $$

What version of NX are you running? If it's NX 8.0 or newer, are you using a TrueType/OpenType font or one of the older NX fonts? Note that the '$' solution does not work with anything other than the older NX fonts, but the good news is that most all TrueType and OpenType fonts include most of the special symbols/characters used in typical engineering notes and starting with NX 8.5 when you install NX, two NX specific, one covering ANSI and the other covering ISO, TrueType libraries which supports CAD Drafting specific symbols. These fonts will be used by NX when adding drafting symbols to a Drawing using normal NX annotation functions, but they can also be used for any sort of text entery use like any other font. If you look in the...

C:\Windows\Fonts

...folder you'll find the NX specific libraries with their names prefixed with 'NX'.
