Is there an easy way to create a half section view? This would be a cut from 12 o'clock to the 3 o'clock along the axis of a cylindrical part.

This can be done two ways;

1) In the part or assy ... by making a cut-extrude and using a config to control it's display state. That config is then used in the drawing view.

2) By using the Aligned Section View tool and make the section line follow the 12 to 3 path.

In the drawing view, you could also;

Sketch a jogged section line down the 12 axis, along the 3 axis, and then vertically down from the end.
Select a portion of the section line, activate the Section View tool and place the section view.
Right click on the section view and select Isometric Section View

You could create a Broken-Out Section that only cuts the desired area of the part.

Your post below is the correct answer. The 1/2 section feature works great and it is an "On-the-fly" process.

"In the drawing view, you could also;Sketch a jogged section line down the 12 axis, along the 3 axis, and then vertically down from the end.Select a portion of the section line, activate the Section View tool and place the section view."

Thanks for your help!!
