Can anyone tutor me as to how I can determine motor size, speed, and fan size to drive a vertical wind tunnel? I would like to determine the requirements for a given size wind tunnel with an 8 feet diameter flight area. I am thinking of using 3-4 separately ducted fans and would like to learn the power requirements to do this.

The first thing you need to do, is to figure the quantity and velocity of the air in the tunnel.
Use the formula Q=AV where Q=the quantity of flow, A is the cross sectional area of the duct and V= the velocity of the airstream.
With this information, you can then use a fan manufacturers perfomance charts to get the rest of your information.

Thanks very much for the rapid response to my question.
I will apply this information and see what I come up with.
