Hi,

This may sound trivial but I do not have inventor yet.
I come from the Solidworks world but have recently landed a job where I will be working with Inventor.

Mainly I will be working with the programming side of things.

In Solidworks you could get a jump start creatine a program by recording a macro first. SW would create the macro in VBA. You could then expand the macro into a useful program.
I assume you can do the same thing with inventor.

The first step though is recording the macro.
what are the steps?

Thanks,

TomDog

There is a tool for recording macros. On the main toolbar click on "Tools" then "Macro". The interface is pretty intuitive.

Hi Gordy,

I am using version 5 currently. The "Macro" selection from the main menu just takes you to VBA where you have to write the macro manually. No recording that I can see.

I will most likely be using version 7 end of next week.
They say it works the same way.

What version are you using?

I have the same question as tomdog only i am using acad2002.
i don't find the tools>macros>macros to be intuitive at all. I haven't had any luck switching back to ACAD and performing keystrokes and picks and having them populate the macro? Can you provide more detail on the process or point me to the help documentation?
