How do you transfer energy and data only using a magnetic connection?

I'm designing an electrical device that has many segmented parts. The main hub will house the battery and the segments will only be connected using magnets(But it has other forms of structural connections). How can I transfer energy and data to these segmented parts? Also keep in mind this device is hand held and worn by the user. Each segmented part is comparable to a small IPod Nano like screen. Each piece is about 27mm by 10mm with a depth of about 5mm. I guess the first question should be, is this even possible to engineer? Also these parts are all meant to be touch screens.

You could probably get electrically conductive magnets to handle the power, and Bluetooth for data.

Thanks for the suggestion IRstuff, I was assuming I'd have to go with Bluetooth for the data. I was also looking into ZigBee. And about the power issue after reviewing some of the designs I'm thinking each segment will house it's own small battery as the primary power source and recharge through said, electrically conductive magnets during downtime.
