Hi All,

I am trying to understand how does this gear mechanism inside the KIRK key - key exchange box works. Is there a certain position of each gear the key is trapped and other position in which key is released? The left two keys need to be released when the third key slot is inserted.

First a device must be operated to release a key.
The device may be a disconnect switch, a protective barrier or other.
That key must be then used to enable the operation of a second device.
In the event that two or more devices must be activated before the controlled device, you will have something like the picture that you posted, two or more keys must be inserted in order to release the next key in the sequence.

Not just a good idea;
It's the LAW!

In the right image, the left cam is the only one that can turn, and that's probably the only position where that key can be released and in that position the other two keys are captive. In other positions, that cam would then allow the center cam to be turned, which then also allows the right cam to turn. When turned, the center cam also locks the left one in place, preventing removal of that key.

When one this sentence into the German to translate wanted, would one the fact exploit, that the word order and the punctuation already with the German conventions agree.
