How Many Hours(Days) to Design a Foundation?

Hello Guys,

If you were asked to design a Tower foundation, It has following requirements:

The tower will be 4-legs, about 10'x10' square, 120'height.
need sitting on a dump pit trench wall(the dump pit trench also need you to design), the dump trench is about 500' long, the width depends on your decision as long as tower leg can sitting on the trench wall without failure, the trench wall top surface must be 4' above grade.

The soil report is given to you.

My question is how many hours (days) it will take you to complete the design job? (begining from various load calculations to end in all the finished detailed drawings).

It is hard to get a feel for these things without the information in front of you so I can only give you a rough educated guess.

But from what you said, maybe 2 days for design, 1 day for admin/checking and 2 days for drafting sounds reasonable.

If the reactions of all the possible load cases are given, then thirty hours would be reasonable for design of the dump trench/foundation system. Drafting would be extra with bar schedules and construction notes for concrete, notes for excavation and backfill, notes and specifications for anchor bolts and grout. If calculation of dead, live, wind, snow, seismic, machinery dynamic loads, etc. then another twenty hour design required.
