Hi every one,

A client would like a garage built flush with one of the home's exterior walls.

I am detailing the connection between the new concrete garage foundation and the existing CMU foundation of the home.

I specified 15M dowls between the footings with min embedement of 12", but I am not sure or aware of products that can allow me to connect the new concrete founcation wall into the existing CMU wall.

Is anyone aware of a product or spec that can allow me to do this?

Thank you.

Is the exterior home wall built with standard 8" blocks? I would assume that since you said it is hollow that they were not built with Open Ended blocks....

If so, then can't you specify for them to grout the very last core that would abut up to the new concrete wall? You could then either set dowels before grouting or drill and epoxy after. If post-installed, most of the major adhesive manufacturers approve their products for Masonry applications.

How about screened epoxy tubes for the rebar? Does this connection actually transfer any meaningful load?

@XR250 the connection does not transfer any loads. The detail for heave movement during winter, and to make sure the two foundations "move" together.
@StrctPono Yes, 8" conventional blocks. I like that detail. Drill and place dowel into wall, then grout. I think that would work.
