Hi All,
Newbie here - well I'm an old fart actually but new to this forum! I have a Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering but am stumped with this motor & switch combo.
I am building a plastic shredder as part of a recycling project and have acquired a brand new 2.2kw single-phase reversible motor and a QS60 drum switch.
I have had a lovely steel frame fabricated and powder-coated and everything bolts up nicely. However what I thought would be the easy part is driving me nuts.
I am trying to figure out how to connect it up to the QS60 drum switch but cannot find anything remotely useful online - am hoping that someone here can help.
I will upload some relevant photos of the kit I have which may help.
My question is in two parts:
The motor connector block has jumper bars installed from the factory. They are installed in such a way that the motor is 'hard-wired' for CW rotation.
I'm assuming that I need to remove these if I'm using a drum switch to reverse the rotation?
Also, which terminals on the motor (U1, U2, V1, V2, etc) do I connect to the Drum Switch??
I am a big boy and don't need anyone telling me to go ask my mum for help, thanks :)

If anyone out there can help - I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,

Neutral always goes to U1.

Line always goes to U2.

L to U2 turns things on and off and the other two reverse the motor if your thru-the-drum-sw drawing is correct.

Keith - thanks heaps! You make this look simple. I’ll give it a go and let you know. I have worn my fingertips off trying to find some tech help with this and you fix it in a few minutes!!
Thanks again :)

Am I right in thinking that I need to remove the shunt bars which came from the factory? (The ones that fix the motor in clockwise rotation?) Thanks again.

Hi Keith - you are a legend!
Works like a charm :)
Thanks again for your help - I wish I could buy you a beer - but I’m in Malaysia so could be difficult!! Cheers !

Great!

I hate drum switches, they drive me crazy sometimes. They have ugly failure modes and they almost always have just about 1/2 the wiring volume they need.

Thanks for reporting back.

Stay safe.
