Hello everyone,

i'm working on a simulation where i have two parts, one solid deformable and one rigid shell. I tried to connect the solid part to the shell and then deform the solid part by rotating the rigid part. First i solved it within an implicid step and used a tie constraint, where i tied two surfaces to each other. Now i want to do the same simulation as an explicit simulation but i get an error that i can't use a tie constraint. I tried many different ways but can't get the simulation running. Has anyone an idea how i can connect the solid part to the motion of the shell part?

I'm using Abaqus CAE 2019

Can you paste this error message here ? It should be possible to use tie constraint for such purpose in Explicit as well.

Sure,

In step 1, portions of master surfaces in the general contact
domain have been tied together. Joining disconnected surfaces
with *TIE does not alter the surface connectivity and results in a
seam in the contact surface. The nodes along the tied surface
perimeters have been added to the node set named
"WarnNodePerimTieSeam".
