How to create a "inwards" blend?

I'm wondering if there is a good way to create a blend is going inwards to the target body? Not sure if you understand what i'm talking about but please take a look at my file and you will understand. The file is ug-nx 7.5 but i could export it to some other formats to.

At the file you can see my solution. It's slow and bothersome.

Is there a better solution?

I did it using Offset in Face curves together with Soft Blends. Attached is the part. If is of course possible to create two blends as normal 2.5 mm edge blends and then the third blend (between the two blends) as a single soft blend.

I was looking for a way to do this without creating the extra tube, extracting, subracting and so on(take a look at the picture).

If you can start after feature #8 and find a solution that is better than mine? The blend itsself is not the problem. it's creating that groove.



The best would be is there is a feature that could make this groove.

What I have done in a further example is
1) Create an offset surface
2) Create a tube
3) Trim the tube using the offset surface
4) Subtract the trimmed tube from the body.

Now this is no faster or less button pushes. It is just an alternative.

I added a few niceties in that you can edit expressions for the groove width and depth. Also note that when one creates the offset surface it must be located before the main tube is united with the block otherwise the offset surface will have a hole in it which inhibits the groove from being created.

Thanks for your help. Your examples workes fine and is a bit smoother than mine.

I tried to use some of your ideeas and using offset surface is of course better. I also used the 3 face blend (never tried it before) and i liked it.

The problem is when I have to to this many times on geometry that is not exactly the same (look at file)

I wish there was a function that could create that groove.

I'm grateful for your suggestions
