Help! I am a new user and have been tasked with adding watermarks to our Catia v5 drawings. I don't know anything about macros, and I've Googled endlessly with zero results (except some suspicious pdf download sites that seem to promise exactly what I'm looking for... just too convenient...) Basically I need a watermark that can be invisible (or very close to it) when viewing the file but of course it needs to print out. Aside from printing to a pdf and then creating a watermark in that, I can't figure out how to add the watermark to the actual drawing.

Ferdo, I have one of our advanced designers investigating your script; however we do not want to print to .pdf at all, just plot as per usual. We have users worldwide and basically they will need to print our drawings without running scripts or macros. Thanks for your input!

40angst -
Create a jpg of your watermark
In Drafting module
Edit - Sheet Background
Insert Picture
Edit - Working Views

Another way you can do this.

create a sheet with title block and watermark.jpg
After you create a new drawing

File - Page Setup
Insert Background View
use the above .CATDrawing with title block and watermark

The problem here is, it still displays on screen. We want something that will only print out, not display in the software.

So, you need in fact a macro which will run in a drawing,, open , apply macro(watermark),print and close without saving .

40angst,
the best i could come up with is to create some text and change the text color to white, which makes it invisible on the screen but shows up when you print or pdf it. the only problem is if its over your views it somewhat blocks out your part view, but if the watermark text is off by itself in the drawing this might work for you.
good luck
