So I have a manifold made up of 1" stainless pipe, with some fittings welded onto the ends. I have a coupld questions.

1. if you see the branches the are cut in 3d to fit the long pipe perfecty, however is this how you would fabricate these branches with these weird sharp edges then weld it or is there different standard to do this?

2. Is it easier to machine the NPT ends like I have shown where the fitting fits over the pipe and is welded around in place. or better to use a butt weld end for the NPT ends similar to the triclamp ferrule on the other end.

This is a manifold for water/glyvol mix. pressure more then likely wouldnt see more than 20psi

Thanks for your responses. The thing that sucks is that its hard to find a stainless laterolet that doesnt have to be shipped from india or china :(. I found one at bonnyforge, but if I need to order these everytime it could be a hassle, maybe cutting the pipe like in example two is the easiest way.

Imagineers,
Talk to your guys on the shop floor, or drive over to your subcontractor and talk to them. The kind of stainless steel tubing you are asking for is not cheap no matter who does it.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.

Also, what weld would I specify on this, seeing as though the two faces between the branch and the main pipe line up and match perfectly in the model. I show a fillet weld around but would this be a butt weld or something else instead??

what you have shown on your weld symbol is correct, you need a full penetration fillet weld.

This is a groove weld, not a fillet weld....no different from welding the threadolet shown.
