How to define "Max. True Involute Form Roll Angle" for cylinder spur gear? Thanks.

You have to know all of the data about the cutter
or hob to be able to determine the manufactured tif.

Thanks dinjin for your reply.
It is a plastic gear manufacture by molding.I want to define "Max. True Involute Form Roll Angle" on 2D print.Could you pls give me some proposal?

Presumably the maximum allowed roll angle of the TIF would be equal to the required SAP roll angle

As Mikey P states, you have to know how the part functions with other gears. TIF should be slightly less than the SAP diameter
or else be undercut to avoid mesh interference with certain applications. If you know the TIF produced by a rack or hob as well as the undercut if the part has few teeth, it will not interfere with its mate. Is this what you are trying to accomplish?

Thanks all.but it is still a question to me.
it is spur gear,Mn=0.64,Z1=15,Z2=58,pressure angle is 20?center distance is 23.8.profile shift Z1=0.5891,profile shift Z2=0.7318,who can help me calculate the "Max. True Involute Form Roll Angle",could you pls let me know the calculate details, thanks.

The input information does not seem right.
An approximate center distance would be
(7.5 + 29 + .5891 + .7318) times .64
yielding a value of 24.2mm. Your center
distance seems closer to .63Mn
Can you check your data again?

You say in one of your other posts that you have access to KISSsoft.
A simple and quick Google search found that KISSsoft calculates and shows in the final report the max & min 'Root Form Diameter Roll Angles'[xsi_dFf.e/i]. I'm pretty sure this is what you need.
Make sure you have all the cutter data for both pinion and gear entered correctly.
As I mentioned in your other post; if you have a legal copy of the software I would suggest you speak to KISSsoft directly.

gearcutter (Industrial),Thank you very much, you answered my question. It is the right answer I want.

I need to say sorry to dinjin (Mechanical) and gearcutter (Industrial) ,because I give you wrong number of tooth, the Z2 should be 57,not 58,so the CD=(7.5+28.5+0.5891+0.7318)*0.64=23.885
Thank you very much for your help.

Luckwz,
The little formula for center distance is only an approximation
and your center distance may be correct as 23.8mm. Thanks for your clarification of the data.
