How to do Group Definition in Staad

Hi everyone,

I have made some group definitions for beams and columns in Staad.
But if I create a plate and meshing the plate (5x5), it will divide the beams into a separated beams (even at the first time, it's only one span)

In this stage, the Group Definition that I have made is totally messy.

For example..
Group = Beam B2 from beam no 1 to 5

After meshing the plate, beam no 1 to 5 become divided into new beams.
Beam no 1 become no 1 to 5
Beam no 2 become no 6 to 10
Beam no 3 become no 11 to 15, ...

But the Beam B2 is only no 1 to 5 (it doesn't automatically change after meshing)

Any advice on how to maintain the Group Definition as one part (same as before meshing plate)?

Please your kindly advice.
Thanks a lot.

There is a separate forum for Bently/STAAD products. You might want to try this post there.

Newly added entities are not automatically included in existing group definitions. After the meshing operation, you would need to add the new entities to the existing group.

you have to select the elements and assign them in a group...hope this helps
