I am new in FEA using ABAQUS.I have done a non linear tensile simulation of a dog bone specimen. But could not find way to extract data for stress n strain. How to get these data? what steps in ABAQUS can give me these information?

thanks

what interface are you using ? FeMap ?

sorry..i am not familiar with the interface you mention..but it is just simple simulation i thought (use ABAQUS only)..a lit bit confuse to extract data e.g S22 and E22..how to combine it so that i can see the data perhaps in Excel file and after that validate it with experimental data.

so you're just running abaqus and reading the output file ? you're not using another program to make your model and to display your results ?

yes..because i found some example regarding that matter..can get the result but need to do something with the setting. For other interfaces? i am not sure

i guess you have to tell abaqus to output the data. i guess you found an example run that expected to display the results (post-process) but you want it to print everything. i imagine (since i don't use abaqus) that it is solving the structure at specific load steps and should be happy to print results at the end of each step.

In the CAE documentation, search for Operate on XY Data. There is a sub-option called Combine that you will be using to generate the required plot. You can export it to Excel or write it to a text file. All of this information is available in the CAE manual.

Thank you IceBreakerSours..but..one thing that i am not very clear about the selection of point..we can choose only at node,surface..but how about average value at the whole specimen?..let say for S22..

FEA outputs results for the elements (and nodes). if you want to average over a group of elements, since you don't seem to be using an interface (but are reading the output file directly) i think you'll have to do that by hand.

i'll assume your group od elements represents a cross-section of the model. so wouldn't the load be the applied load (and the average stress = P/A) ? or are you just checking to see if the FEA is producing correct results?
