How do I find the free edges, I mean unstitched surfaces in Catia V5?
In I-deas, show free edges will highlight all the free edges in a part. Similarly I want to find out which command do I use for finding out free edges in V5.
Early response to this would be highly appriciated.

TIA,
Gururaj.

Dear Gururaj
Here is what i do.. We have HD2 Licence.
I use Join command to Join my surfaces and select apply. This will show me the free edges in Green.
Alternatively you may also use the Boundry Command in GSD to get the same result Cheers

Thanks Ganesh...
But what if I am working on a large model, and I want to find out all the free edges of that part at one streatch..What should I do then...?

Thanks,
Gururaj.

Hi
In such a case i use the search option to select all the surfaces(Edit>search)and then select the Healing command and select apply.
This again will show me the open edges in Green.
I know this is not the right procedure but this is the only workaround i can guess of. Any other ideas on this is welcome Cheers

Hi

In [Tools -> Options -> Display]
select check box [Surfaces' Boundaries] and you will see all free boundaries marked with green. You also can select your preferred colour.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jogla,

Yes it helps me..
Thanks for the input.

Have a nice time,

Hello:

There is another way to find small openings
in a big part. You can use the "Boundary" command and extract the boundary of the Join.
Then select the curve and with the MB3 (Mouse Button n3) select "Reframe On"

Best Regards.
