I don't think that's possible when using Validation..
 
You can put the data on another sheet (see the second example I sent). You have to type the area because the data validation will not let you choose another sheet.

The trick is give a name to the range in the other sheet.

For example attached in sheet2 I highlighted A1:A8 and typed insert/name/create/TopRow.

Then in sheet 1 data validation tab in list box I put =TempData.

Then as stated sheet 2 could be hidden if desired.

Using names is a great tip. In this case you want a "Workbook level" name. This is what EXCEL does by default. But remember that you can creat "Worksheet Level" names. See link below.[smile]
