I have a customer that semds me ProE files. I have no problem opening their assemblies and part files, but I cannot open their drw.1 drawing files. In most cases I cannot get PDF or DXF files from them. Is there a viewer or other method that will open the drw.1 files directly? I just need to print them.
thanks,
Tom

Yes, edrawing does not work for the drw.1 files, it reports incompatible file type. ProE has another viewer but the files must be saved in that viewers format

There is an eDrawing version for Pro/E.

The SolidWorks version opens regular SW drawings, so I assume the Pro/E version would open the regular Pro/E drawings.

[cheers]

I downloaded the Proe version and it did not work either. which I need to uninstall now.

Are you sure the file extension is right on the drawing file. following format it should be something like name.drw rather than .1

Just a thought.

The ProE version of eDrawings is just a eDrawings publisher (add-in) for ProE. It won't work for viewing ProE files. I've been down this road before and have yet to find any type of free viewer for ProE drawings.

I don't think SW will open Pro-E drawings. I didn't see anything in the pulldown when I went to file open. Only options for assemblies and parts for Pro-E.

Thanks everybody for your input, but I have to agree so far with Joe Marv. I tried getting rid of the .1 but still no go. I spoke with PTC and they said I need to but a seat (of course). I also spoke with a ProE user and he said we need to get a seat of ProE for this too.
I'm not looking for a free viewer, but I was hoping I didn't need to pay for a full seat just to print drw.1 files

Tom, can you post the file for some of us to try? We may be able to figure something out actually working with the file that we aren't seeing based on just your description.

Tom,

Looks like you are dealing with a customer is does not want to do data translation. Can't say that I blame them.

What I would do is find out what version of ProE they are using. Then go out and find an independent contractor and have them open the files for you and do your data translation for you. I am sure there are any number of folks in your area that could do this for you. This will be more cost effective then buying a seat of ProE just to open up the drawing files.

I do not suspect you will find another solution short of buying a seat of ProE.

Cheers,
