Is there a way to add an additional column of data in the parts list that would include the vendor of the part? I know that you can enter the vendor as an attribute, but how do I get it to show up in the BOM????

Thanks

If you're talking about the Parts List note that you can add to a Drawing, all you have to do, after making sure that you've added an appropriate Attribute to each part of interest, is to edit your Parts List to add additional column. You do this by first selecting one of the existing columns of the part list next to where you wish to place the new column (select the column at the top of the column and make sure that the entire column pre-highlights before you select) and then pressing MB3 and selecting 'Insert' and choose whether you want to add it to the left of the right of the column selected. Now once the new column is created select it and press MB3 and select 'Style' and the tab labeled 'Columns' and just select the appropriate Attibute Name and you should be all set.

Now of course if this is going to be a permanent thing, you'll need to edit your Parts List templates as well.

JOHN,

THANKS, ONCE MORE YOU HAVE ANSWERED MY QUESTION. WHERE IS THE PART LIST TEMPLATE LOCATED AT?

ALSO, COULD YOU GIVE ME A QUICK RUN DOWN ON THE PART FILE ATTRIBUTES? I HAVE BEEN NAMING THE ATTRIBUTE, AND THEN INPUTING A VALUE FOR IT, IS THIS THE CORRECT WAY TO USE THE ATTRIBUTES? IS THERE A WAY TO ESTABLISH SOME STANDARD ATTRIBUTES THAT WILL BE IN EACH PART I CREATE?

THANKS,
JAKE

First you create Part File Attributes under File -> Properties...

As for enforcing standards, what I do is have default part files where I've already created a set of standard attributes even if their value is just set to something like <fill-in> or TBD. If you add the template parts to a Resorce Bar tab (this is for NX 3 and NX 4) then all you have to do is just open the tab and select the part and it will launch a copy of your template as the new part and when you go and save it the system will ask for a new name. If you're running NX 5, Templates are now built into the File New dialog so you can go and edit them.

As far Part List temaplates, you can create your own similar to what I explained above by adding them to a Resource bar tab, but the existing templates can be found in the 'UGII/table_files' folder.
