How to prevent model view from automatically displaying results after a model run?!

Anyone know how to prevent SAP from updating the model view with results after an analysis run (deflected shape or member force diagrams). I have a large model with numerous load combinations. After an analysis run, the display can take FOREVER to update the 3D view with whatever I was last looking at (deflection, axial load, etc). I don't want it to update the view with anything, just run the analysis and leave the view as-is. I've tried un-selecting "Auto Refresh", that doesnt seem to stop it.

Hoping for an answer to this question too, although I'm not optimistic

I am not optimistic either.

I thought of a hack that seems to work, and might be worth it if your current method is burning enough time.

Go under File and Batch Control and set it to run your big model followed by a little model. After it runs your big model, it won't display the deflected shape. Instead, it'll run the second model and show its deflected shape. Then go open your big model. When I tried this, the big model came up in a simple 3D view, not the deflected shape.

Have you tried using the the View - Set Limits to restrict the model view to only include a small portion of the model? I'm not certain it will work, but it does very specifically limit what is shown. If the program is smart enough to know that it doesn't have to process the items not included in the restricted limits, then it may speed things up tremendously.

Josh, I typically get in the habit of reducing view to only a few members I am focused upon at the time. Then SAP only updates the display results view for those few members quickly. Its the times I'm busy, forget to do that, then it takes forever and really annoys me. I got mad and ctrl-alt-delete killed SAP one time... that corrupted the model file. Lesson learned there!

This seems like a simple thing to program in though, maybe a global setting?

I've looked for it and I didn't find it.... Though there is soooo much about SAP2000 features that I don't know about.

You should send that request to the SAP2000 support address. Anything I do will not get entered or tracked the same way. If you mention me on the e-mail and maybe they'll copy me on the response.

Thanks for looking. I will submit an email.

Funny side story, I was at a conference recently where Ashraf was keynote speaker. At the dinner party afterward, I met him and got a picture with his amazing LED jacket. He's got such an impressive/infectious, positive energy! Anyway, it took all I had not to bug him about several SAP2000 quirks (including this one) Clearly not the time, place, or person! :)

Yes, he is really the preeminent ambassador of structural engineering in the US. So inspiring!
