How to prove AISI-304 be use instead of ASTM A240-304 for structural steel part of Tank when API 650 Appendix-S is applied.

The AISI is no longer valid denomination, since the Iron and Steel Institute does not control the steel register any longer. As such, you cannot use the AISI 304 unless the Client allows you to do so. However, you can weld the AISI 304 to doubler plates on shell or roof for supports, clips and cleats without the Client's approval, since they are not regulated by the Appx. S.
