How to reduce friction in a metal pivoting /sliding hinge

Hey everyone, i have a very simple pivoting /sliding metal arm (picture:

in a luggage ( I didn't like the original one so i changed it). It makes an awful sound of metal on metal when sliding (the arm slides using a bolt with a as a guide

and I want to eliminate it, while at the same time making it less wobbly. My design is almost identical to the one at this link, so I was thinking about a plastic ring to put around the bolt where it slides on, like the one they use:

What kind of material should I use to make it slide easily and remove the sound?
Any design suggestion?

I would try bee's wax, available in a small disk from sewing supply stores and rub that on the pivot and other mating surfaces. It's dry and non-staining and sticks well.

You need thrust washers between the nuts and the arms. Use a disk/Belleville spring to compress the washers against the arm to give it a consistent and premium feel.

These types of stays are used in electrical enclosures and they're just awful. The problem is that the bolt needs to be left loose to slide freely and this lets the bolt cock sideways and bind up. The bolt needs to be left loose because the thickness of the bar varies some. Using the spring with slippery washers will help the bolt aligned but also compensate for variations in thickness.
