How to reduce number of triangles in a 2D free mesh?

Hi everyone :)

I´m used to create FE meshes in Abaqus and I-deas, but lately have to work also in NX Adv Sim. Therefore i have a question: since NX is trying to adopt some or most of the I-deas technology (regarding FE modelling), why is it that at 2D free meshing in NX so many triangles are created in comparison to the Ideas, on same surface of course? For example, when i mesh something in Ideas, it won´t produce any triangles unless i allow it (when option checked).

Is there any other setting in NX that controls this behaviour besides the standard ones in the meshing menu?

I have also tried to split faces to get more regular shapes, but that doesn´t help much (also with mapped mesh switch on).

Is it possible to set up the mesh this way, that no triangles are produced (of course, in such a case a meshing could also fail, but nevertheless)?

Also any other hints or tips on this topic are welcome :)

br, B
