Greetings:

I've used a dimension reference in NX11 before in order to dimension a formula utilizing the dimension. I am now in NX12 and it seems different. Can someone help me with how to create a dimension that holds and can be used to dimension within a sketch in NX12?

Thanks,

Brent

Hi,

Attached is a screen shot. Basically, we are designing wooden crates to package our products. The wooden crates will change in width and length depending on the product, and what I was trying to do is create a p value that I could dimension holes in the box based on the width of the box. So, I have a rectangle that I extrude the walls of the box. I wanted to do a dimension between the walls of the box and use that as a value to automatically reposition screw holes based on the new size, that I simply change by opening the rectangle sketch and type in a new width and length value.

Thanks for your time with this.

Hi Brent,

When I was talking abour screenshot, I wanted understand what it's your setting in NX11, bacause in NX12 the sketcher and the menu expression are similar. So you NX11 method should work in NX12.

PSI-CAD,

I found it now. The associative button was what I needed. I see it now. Thanks again for your time with this one.

Attached is a screen shot of the Measure dialog box. There is a check box under the Settings tab within this dialog box that must be checked prior to taking the measurement. This will then create a pxxxx value that is saved and can be used in a dimension later utilizing formula.

Thanks,

Brent

Hi Brent,

I am sure that now it's clear for all of us. Because, you issue is not on dimension but on measure that effectively was changed exactly in NX11.0.2 MP7

Oh, yes, sorry. I mis-spoke when starting this thread. I see I used the term Dimension, but it is definitely Measurement that creates the new p value I was attempting to create. And then, while dimensioning, you can use the measurement p value in a formula.
