Hello everybody,

I have a problem with NX 7.5.

Is it possible to get the z-component (value) of an existing point by using expressions?

For example something like: oldValue = getZCoord(point14)
(point14 is the already existing point)

Thank you very much!

If the point is associative, then the xyz values are all expressions already.

Not necessarily. If the point was located relative to some vertex such as the corner of a solid or the center of an arc, there will NOT be any expressions associated with the Point object, despite that fact that it's a parametric (associative) feature. Only if it's created as a stand-alone 'smart point' will there be a series of X,Y,Z expressions.

Thanks for the fast response.

In my case it's exactly like John wrote. I have a relative located point and I need the Z expression from it, just to compare the z-value with an other value...

Is there any other solution for this kind of problem?

Thank you very much indeed!

Could you make use of a Distance Measurement ?

Thank you, Distance Measurement got me out of the mess!
